  • In the JEE MAIN total number of questions has been Increase.
  • As per the revised JEE Main Exam pattern 2021, the question booklet of B.E./B.Tech. Will have a total of 90 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Till last year the total number of questions asked in JEE Main paper 1 exam was 75.
  • Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • Earlier till 2019, there were no numerical based questions asked in JEE Main.
  • Marking Scheme for MCQs : Correct Answer or the best Answer (+4), Incorrect Answer (-1), Unanswered / Marked for Review (0)
  • Marking Scheme for questions for which answer is a Numerical value : Correct Answer or the best Answer (+4), Incorrect Answer (0), Unanswered / Marked for Review (0)
  • While the MCQs will have negative marking in cases where candidate marks a wrong answer, there is no negative marking for the other questions.
  • In continuance to the changes, the agency has also notified changes in tie-resolving norms. This year onwards, having lesser number of negative responses in the paper can fetch a candidate good rank in case there is a tie. Other criteria like mathematics score, physics score, chemistry score will be followed, in the same order, along with the age criteria. In case all the above rules fail to resolve the tie, candidate older in age would be given higher rank.
