JEE (Main) 2021: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) comprises of two papers. The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.

National Testing Agency (NTA) JEE Main 2021 will be a fully computer based test (online) to be held in February/March/April/May 2021.   

JEE MAIN Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), Institutions funded by participating State Governments and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE(Main). The JEE (Main)-2021 is being conducted in multiple Sessions (February/March/April/May) for admissions in the next academic session. The candidates will thus benefit in the following ways:-

1. This will give multiple opportunities to the candidates to improve their scores in the examination if they are not able to give their best in the one attempt.  

2. This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.

3. In case a candidate has Board Examination in a particular month, or is unable to appear due to COVID-19, the candidate can choose a different month to take the JEE (Main)-2021.

4. A candidate need not appear in all the four Sessions. However, if candidate appears in more than one Session then his/her best of the 2021 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking.

5. Keeping in mind various decisions taken by various Boards across the country regarding amendments in the syllabus, NTA has decided that the question paper will contain 90 questions, in which the candidate will have to attempt a total of 75 questions. The choice will be given in Section B (numerical), which will not have any negative marking.

JEE MAIN 2021 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

JEE MAIN Age Limit : There is no age limit for the candidates.
The candidates who have passed class 12th/equivalent examination in 2019, 2020 or appearing in 2021 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) examination 2021. 

Qualifying JEE MAIN Examinations :
i. The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
ii. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
iii. Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
iv. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
v. Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
vi. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
vii. A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 year duration.
viii. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/SriLanka) at the Advanced(A) level.
ix. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.  

Year of Appearance in JEE MAIN Qualifying Examination : Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019, 2020 or 2021; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2021 are eligible to appear in JEE(Main) -2021 Examination.



Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2022 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2021.
Candidates must note that the IITs permit only two attempts for the JEE (Advanced), i.e. a candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2020 or 2021, subject to the condition of not having been admitted at an IIT on earlier  occasion. 

Admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, SFIs, State Engineering Colleges in the Participating States and Other Participating Institutions including UPSEE : 

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB): 

Admission to B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch / B.Planning. Courses in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class / Qualifying examination conducted by the respective Boards.  For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12thclass / qualifying examination.

Required Criteria based on Class 12th / Equivalent qualifying Examination B.E/B.Tech : Passed qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject. 

Eligibility for Admission to Other Institutions: 

The above-mentioned policy could also be adopted by other Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB. In case a State opts to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to State Universities, the State may prepare a separate rank list based on criteria decided by them.

Important Note for Multiple Choice Questions: To answer a question, the candidates need to choose one option corresponding to the correct answer or the most appropriate answer. However, if after the process of challenges of the key, more than one option is found to be correct then the multiple correct options will be given four marks (+4). Any incorrect option marked will be given the minus one mark (-1). Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no marks.

Whats New in JEE Main 2021?

  • In the JEE MAIN total number of questions has been Increase.
  • As per the revised JEE Main Exam pattern 2021, the question booklet of B.E./B.Tech. Will have a total of 90 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Till last year the total number of questions asked in JEE Main paper 1 exam was 75.
  • Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • Till 2019, a total of 30 MCQ or multiple choice questions were asked from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. From 2020, the total number of questions for JEE MAIN Paper I would be 20 MCQs + 5 Questions with answer as numerical value.
  • While the MCQs will have negative marking in cases where candidate marks a wrong answer, there is no negative marking for the other questions.
  • In continuance to the changes, the agency has also notified changes in tie-resolving norms. This year onwards, having lesser number of negative responses in the paper can fetch a candidate good rank in case there is a tie. Other criteria like mathematics score, physics score, chemistry score will be followed, in the same order, along with the age criteria. In case all the above rules fail to resolve the tie, candidate older in age would be given higher rank.

Choice of Medium of JEE MAIN 2021 Question Papers: The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Gujarati.
The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
Please note that for correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.

Mode of JEE MAIN 2021 Examination:

JEE (Main)-2021 will be conducted in the following modes:

a) B.E. /B. Tech. in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only.

b) B.  Arch: Mathematics-Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.

c) B.  Planning: Mathematics-Part I, Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions-Part III in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only

JEE Main 2021 Application Form:

Candidates have to apply for JEE (Main) -2021 Online ONLY by accessing the websites.www.nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in .
The NTA JEE MAIN Application Form other than online mode would not be accepted, in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.
More than one application i.e. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.

JEE Main 2021 e-Admit Card :

The e-Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates through the NTA website: jeemain.nta.nic.in, subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility conditions and receipt of prescribed application fee by NTA.



Printing of JEE MAIN 2021 Admit Cards from NTA website : First week of February, 2021
JEE Main 2021 admit card will be available for those candidates who have successfully submitted their application form. JEE Main admits card 2021 can be downloaded by entering application number and password. JEE Main 2021 admit card will carry important information like their name, date of birth, paper, gender, city, test centre, state code of eligibility, etc. All candidates must carefully cross-check all the information on the admit card and ensure that the information printed is correct.
 
Note: If any discrepancy is found, the candidates should contact JEE Main Secretariat immediately to get it resolved.
 
Without a valid admit card of JEE Main 2021, the candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre or take the exam.
 

Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure: 

Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main) 2021 through a Seat Allocation Process to be announced later CSAB/ JoSAA.

  • As per the revised JEE Main Exam pattern 2021, the question booklet of B.E./B.Tech. Will have a total of 90 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Till last year the total number of questions asked in JEE Main paper 1 exam was 75.
  • Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • Till 2019, a total of 30 MCQ or multiple choice questions were asked from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. From 2020, the total number of questions for JEE MAIN Paper I would be 20 MCQs + 5 Questions with answer as numerical value.
  • While the MCQs will have negative marking in cases where candidate marks a wrong answer, there is no negative marking for the other questions.
  • In continuance to the changes, the agency has also notified changes in tie-resolving norms. This year onwards, having lesser number of negative responses in the paper can fetch a candidate good rank in case there is a tie. Other criteria like mathematics score, physics score, chemistry score will be followed, in the same order, along with the age criteria. In case all the above rules fail to resolve the tie, candidate older in age would be given higher rank.

Choice of Medium of JEE MAIN 2021 Question Papers: The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Gujarati.
The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
Please note that for correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.

Mode of JEE MAIN 2021 Examination:

JEE (Main)-2021 will be conducted in the following modes:

a) B.E. /B. Tech. in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only.

b) B.  Arch: Mathematics-Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.

c) B.  Planning: Mathematics-Part I, Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions-Part III in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only

JEE Main 2021 Application Form:

Candidates have to apply for JEE (Main) -2021 Online ONLY by accessing the websites.www.nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in .
The NTA JEE MAIN Application Form other than online mode would not be accepted, in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.
More than one application i.e. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.

The entire application process for JEE (Main) 2021 is online, including uploading of scanned images, payment of fees, and printing of Confirmation Page, Admit Card, etc. Therefore, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand.

JEE Main 2021 e-Admit Card :

The e-Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates through the NTA website: jeemain.nta.nic.in, subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility conditions and receipt of prescribed application fee by NTA.



Printing of JEE MAIN 2021 Admit Cards from NTA website : First week of February, 2021
JEE Main 2021 admit card will be available for those candidates who have successfully submitted their application form. JEE Main admits card 2021 can be downloaded by entering application number and password. JEE Main 2021 admit card will carry important information like their name, date of birth, paper, gender, city, test centre, state code of eligibility, etc. All candidates must carefully cross-check all the information on the admit card and ensure that the information printed is correct.
 
Note: If any discrepancy is found, the candidates should contact JEE Main Secretariat immediately to get it resolved.
 
Without a valid admit card of JEE Main 2021, the candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre or take the exam.
 

Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure: 

Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main) 2021 through a Seat Allocation Process to be announced later CSAB/ JoSAA.
